For a long time, I would not consider myself a painter. In school, I often struggled to blend the paint on a canvas and it never turned out the way that I pictured it in my head. I was much more comfortable in the realm of pencil, ink, and digital. A few years ago, I started exploring watercolour and I grew to love the lack of control that you have with that medium. Gouache is a nice balance between the ability to blend and lack of true control that I enjoy. Nature features heavily in my work these days. I’m often deeply inspired by my time in the woods.
